Location & Character
Regent Park is a Neighbourhood Improvement Area (NIA) in the City of Toronto, located just east of the downtown core between Gerrard Street East, River Street, Dundas Street East, and Sherbourne Street. Once home to Canada's oldest and largest social housing project, Regent Park has undergone one of the most ambitious urban revitalization projects in Canadian history over the past 15 years.
The transformation is ongoing. New mixed-income residential towers, a community recreation centre (the Regent Park Aquatic Centre), Daniels Spectrum (arts and culture hub), and Paintbox Bistro — a social enterprise restaurant — have changed the neighbourhood's character significantly. It remains a community with deep roots and a strong sense of identity.
Transit
Regent Park has no subway stations but is served by 7 bus stops. The 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton streetcars run nearby, providing access to the subway network and downtown.
